Fierce competition for the online customer has led to ever increasing demands for more and better product information to support a better customer experience. Simultaneously, demands for ESG and compliance data are growing rapidly as new regulations come into effect.
 

Meanwhile suppliers struggle with product information, and it’s very difficult to timely get high-quality data from suppliers to support a great customer experience.
Retailers today typically do one of four things to remedy this situation: 
Build a large and expensive merchandising organization that manually collects, structures and enriches product information from suppliers
Build a portal or strict templates that suppliers are asked to input data to, forcing suppliers to spend insane amounts of resources on onboarding and leading to a lot of products not being published at all
Lower quality standards to allow more products to be published, to the detriment of the customer experience
